Dr. Ego Nwosu
-than one hundred eighty publications to his credit, published in the local and international learned journals, conference proceedings and book Chapters and reviewed technical reports, alongside two popular textbooks; over sixty of the publications are in theScopus and Thomson Reuters-indexed international journals and several other publications in the conferences/seminars. His publications output cut across diverse areas which include petroleum geology, structural geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, environmental geology, sedimentology, and geophysics, which thus formed the bases for his claim of being an interdisciplinary scholar.
His publication record in engineering geology and the uncountable projects supervised at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels -‐ on geology and geotechnical engineering studies, including stability of slopes for various onshore oil platforms, foundation problems, ground subsidence over buried and abandoned wells and seaside cliffs along the Nigerian coast -‐ are verifiable field evidence of his professional expertise and claim of being a Geology and Engineering Geology expert of repute. Other area of professional competence apart from Petroleum and Structural Geology include: Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Property Determination, Highway and Building Foundations Design, and Hydrogeology, among others. He belongs to several professional bodies including Council of Mining Engineers and Geoscientists, Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, International Association of Engineering Geology, Society of Petroleum Engineers and Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), etc.
Within the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry, Dr. Nwosu is singularly reputed to have contributed enormously through cutting edge, publication based research findings, and the mentors他 responsibilities he has been discharging since the year 2001, towards ensuring good quality and number of Nigerian nationals -‐ with requisite knowledge of geology and engineering -‐ contractible to international oil companies. The research output and supervision of theses from his stable have been and still are, being applied in the development needs of Akwa Ibom, Imo, Abia and Rivers States, and indeed the entire Niger Delta areas.
For instance, his findings in the shallow gas sand, offshore Akwa Ibom areas have become very useful in evaluating the various geohazards including shallow gas, shallow water flow and possible mud volcano or geysers in onshore and offshore environments.
His discovery of accumulations of abnormal pressure and its characteristics has become resourceful materials in the evaluation of drilling challenges in the Niger Delta Basins.
